The UK government is taking a significant step toward ensuring the safety and standards of non-surgical cosmetic procedures. This comprehensive review aims to shape new regulations and establish a licensing scheme for beauty professionals and cosmetic businesses operating in England.
The consultation process will address concerns related to non-surgical cosmetic procedures such as Microneedling, Chemical Peels, Dermaplaning and many other treatments.
The proposed regulations aim to support businesses by introducing high standards, thereby enhancing the industry’s reputation and professionalism.
The public consultation concluded on Saturday, October 28, 2023. This initiative follows the passage of the Health and Care Act in April 2022, granting the Health and Social Care Secretary the authority to introduce a licensing regime.
Under the proposed scheme, beauty professionals will need licenses for specific procedures, and the premises from which they operate will also require licensing.
As the government moves forward with its commitment to introducing a licensing scheme, anyone wishing to enter the beauty industry will eventually need to comply with the new government standards.
